1. Why should I have my carpets cleaned? To get the best possible wear out of your carpets they need to be cleaned regularly. You know it is time to clean your carpets when –
2. Why do some carpet cleaners advertise extremely low prices and when they arrive to clean the carpet the price always goes up? This is called Bait and Switch. They want you to book with them because the price is too good to refuse. When they arrive you are charged for all the extras such as pre-spray, stain removal, extra for medium to heavy soiling, extra because you will be told that the carpet needs an industrial clean, extra for de-odorising, extra because the price advertised per room only applies when you have 10 rooms cleaned……and the list goes on.
3. Somebody told me not to have my carpets cleaned, because when they did the carpets became dirty very quickly? This will only happen when a poor quality carpet cleaner pumps your carpet full of detergent and does not rinse the detergent out. Any professional carpet cleaner will avoid this problem by pre-spraying your carpet first, then rinsing the pre-spray out – similar to a rinse cycle on a washing machine.
4. How often should I clean my carpets? Your carpets should be professionally cleaned every 12 months. When they are cleaned and maintained correctly the carpet life is extended. Your carpet will not be damaged if cleaned correctly and on a regular basis. It is the unseen bacteria, allergens and soils that cause the damage.
5. Is it possible to clean carpets too often? No. Frequent cleaning of the carpet will help to maintain its original appearance. It is recommended that high traffic areas (doorways, hallways etc) and areas of heavy soiling are cleaned more frequently than other areas of lighter use. Between professional carpet cleaning services, remember to vacuum at least once a week with a good quality vacuum in proper working order.
6. How soon can I walk on my carpets after cleaning? This really depends on which system we use for cleaning. With the Dry Fusion system your carpets are ready to walk on within 30 minutes, but with Hot water extraction you are best leaving them for a couple of hours. Having said this it would not really harm your carpets if you were to walk on them sooner because as professional carpet cleaners we will only clean the carpet fibres. The backing, the underlay and the floorboards should not get wet.
7. What stains will be removed when my carpet is cleaned? A spot is a substance that is adhered to the carpet fibre, but has not become set. A stain is more advanced and may have become set. A professional carpet cleaner will remove all spots (food, grease, mud etc), but will have more problems removing a set or permanent stain. We carry a large amount of stain removal solutions for the removal of coffee, tea, blood, cola, urine, red wine etc. If the stain has not set and become permanent stain removal can be successful.
8. Will hot water extraction damage my carpet? No. Hot water extraction is the preferred method of cleaning for most carpet cleaners, and is recommended by most leading carpet manufacturers. It is considered by many to be the best method of removing embedded soil and other contaminants.
9 Will my carpet shrink? Some carpets are prone to shrinkage, but we will spot this at the time of your free survey and will take steps to prevent it from happening.
10. Will I have to move my furniture? No. Although we would appreciate you moving any small items and breakables out of the room, we have a system for working with most large pieces.
